Judy Shanaberger, junior at Jacksonville State College (now Jacksonville State University), was crowned ROTC queen at the spring military ball April 3, 1963. She was selected from eight candidates composed of ROTC sponsors. Holding a bouquet of American Beauty roses she stands with James Rayburn, Dean Lawrence Miles, and Colonel Russell Reed of the Fourth U.S. Army Corps.
