Major Jean R. Emery was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in October 1964 at Jacksonville State College. Colonel John J. Klein, ROTC coordinator, IV U.S. Army Corps, pinned the silver maple leaf on his uniform. Lieutenant Colonel John A. Brock, commander of the college unit, shakes hands with Emery in congratulations.
