Hammond Hall at Jacksonville State Teachers College was constructed in 1947-1948. President Houston Cole requested the State Board of Education to name the new dining hall in memory of John D. Hammond, distinguished Calhoun County citizen. Shown is the front exterior view of the building. (circa 1940s)
