Description
The Masonic Building, far left, and Gulf, right, are shown along what is now Pelham Road North, closest to the north end of the Jacksonville square, on the east side of the road. The Hiram Lodge No. 42 F. & A.M. was organized in 1837 and built the structure shown combined with the Methodists. The upper level was used for Masonic meetings and the lower level was used by the Methodists until they moved into their own church in 1888. Presently in 2017, this site holds a strip mall and a brick Masonic Lodge with a Taekwondo studio in the lower level. (circa 1940s)
