Kathryne Knight, winner in the annual "Miss Jacksonville" contest, received a bracelet and "Miss Jacksonville" ribbon from Jacksonville State Teachers College President Houston Cole. The recognition and announcement took place during the annual summer carnival held July 21, 1944 on the Bibb Graves Hall terrace.
