Description
Performed: 3-4 October 2019; Hubert Grissom's "Winston Drives Big Jim" was the winner of the 2019 Southern Playwrights' Competition. It is the story of the unlikely friendship between a Governor, "Big Jim" Folsom, and his chauffeur, an African-American driver named Winston. The two witness and influence the emerging Civil Rights Movement in Alabama in the 1940s and 1950s. The director was Michelle Tailor, assistant director was Eric Wilkerson, stage manager was Ashe Fadely, lighting designer was Cheyenne Oliver, sound designer was Alli Angel, technical director was John Davis, marketing by Chloe Barnes, producer/department head was Randy Blades.
