Department of Theatre & Film Performance Archive

 

JSU's Department of Theatre and Film holds a variety of performances in the Stone Center Theatre and other venues. This archive consists primarily of materials created for these productions and donated to the Library by the Department of Theatre and Film. The materials include photographs, slides, playbills, and posters. While some materials date back to the 1940s, the bulk of the collection is from the 1970s onward, and the Library updates the archive with new productions periodically. The Library has supplemented the Theatre and Film materials with related images from the Photographic Services Negative Project and the Library's own Historical Image Collection.

The play was directed by Mike Boynton, assistant director was Alexis Loren Robinson, stage manager was Ashlee Cheyenne Oliver, assistant stage manager was Ansley Gayton, vocal coach was Carrie Colton, dramaturg was Rebekah Weaver, scenic designer was Freddy Clements, lighting designer was Jennifer Luck, assistant lighting designer was Champ Bryant, costume shop supervisor and costume designer was Randy Blades, assistant costume designer was Kelby King, cutter/draper was Meg McCrina, hair and makeup by Halima Kamara, sound designer was Jennifer Luck, technical director and scene shop supervisor was Nick Hoenshell, props assistants were Kathryn Barone and Anita White, graphic design assistant was Meghan Lee.     Performed: 19 May 2017; Wim Coleman's "The Shackles of Liberty" was the winner of the 2016 Southern Playwrights' Competition. The play is a fictionalized account of Thomas Jefferson's last day in Paris in 1789 and focuses on his relationships with lover Maria Cosway, older daughter Martha, and slave mistress Sally Hemings. The director was Carrie Colton, stage manager was Cheyenne Oliver, assistant stage managers were Tiffany Jenkins, Larry Mason, and Kevin Jannot, vocal coaches were Larry Mason and Carrie Colton, dramaturg was Rebecca Weaver, sound designer was Kevin Jannot, design/technical coordinators were Freddy Clements, Nicholas Hoenshell, Larry Mason, and Randy Blades, prop coordinators were Libby Hays and Kevin Jannot, box office manager was Linda Adams, graphic design assistant was Meghan Lee, producer/department head was Randy Blades. A young man suddenly finds himself in a strange place somewhere between Oz and Wonderland. He must unscramble stories and steer characters to their destination while avoiding the Wicked Witch and the Red Queen. Costumes were designed by Megan Wise.
