Description
Inscription on the plaque reads: "The Sudler Trophy, Honoring the close relationship and outstanding contribution of Intercollegiate Marching Bands, to the American way of life, a biannual award recognizing, a university marching band program, which has maintained an exceptionally high quality of marching innovation and musical performance over a period of many years, presented to Jacksonville State University, 2022, Directors of the Band, Before Marching Southerners, J. Eugene Duncan (Deceased) 1948-1958, Marching Southerners, John T. Finley (Deceased) 1951-1958, John Knox, Interim Director (Deceased) 1959-1960, David L. Walters (Deceased) 1961-1990, M. Scott McBride (Living) 1991-1993, Kenneth G. Bodiford (Living) 1994-Present, Endowed by Louis & Virginia Sudler, Administered by The John Philip Sousa Foundation."
