This newsletter documents the 92d Infantry Division of the United States Army, also known as "Buffalo soldiers," the only African-American unit participating in combat during World War II, in a racially-segregated armed forces. The commanding officers of the division were white and included Col. C.W. (Clarence) Daugette, Jr., who commanded one of the division's battalions, probably the 3rd. Col. Daugette, son of Jax State President C.W. Daugette, would also serve the University in a variety of roles, such as a University Trustee and chairman of the International Endowment Foundation Board.
This newsletter was donated by Clarence Daugette III.
