Description
Postcard (black and white) depicting the Gorgas House on the campus of the University of Alabama located in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The structure was built in 1829, and served as dining hall, dormitory for students and faculty, classroom and other space. It is one of the few buildings to survive the burning of campus that occurred during the Civil War. It takes its name from the Gorgas family, specifically Amelia Gayle and Josiah Gorgas, the University's 7th president. Today, the building is a museum. Printed by Grogan Photo, Danville, Ill.
