The outstanding athletes of the 1977 Gamecock football team were honored during the football awards banquet held January 20, 1978 in the Leone Cole Auditorium at Jacksonville State University. Head coach Jim Fuller congratulates Mitchell Knox (Chaplain Award) and Gurley Swanigan (Most Valuable Defensive Back) who were named captains by their teammates.
