Description

The Dr. J.C. Francis Museum was used by Dr. J.C. Francis who practiced general medicine for 54 years in Jacksonville. The two-room structure was built by Dr. Francis around 1850 and was located at 100 Gayle St, off the northwest corner of the square in Jacksonville, AL. The museum was dedicated in March 1974 and operated by the Gen. John H. Forney Historical Society of Jacksonville and the Alabama Historical Commission. Lt. Col. (Ret.) Worden Weaver and Lt. Col. (Ret.) Milton Winsor were curators. It displayed a collection of medical tools from the late 18th century to the early 1900s. Shown are medical supplies.
