Description

The Crook-Rowan-Smith House is locally known as Ten Oaks. James Madison Crook hired architect Samuel Sloan to design the house, which was built by master contractor Elbert Green Morris in 1855. In 1865, Major Peyton Rowan bought the house from Crook. Daisy Weller Smith was its fourth-generation owner. Shown (circa 1955) is a front exterior view of the historic home located at 805 Pelham Road South, Jacksonville. The home is on the NPS National Register of Historic Places.
