Description

Brigadier General Joseph W. Burke, born February 18, 1835 and died November 7, 1900, was buried in the Jacksonville City Cemetery Burke family plot. There is also a historic marker for Joseph William Burke on the NE corner of the lawn of Bibb Graves Hall at Jacksonville State University. Shown is a tombstone inscribed, "Genl. Joseph W. Burke Feby, 18 1835 - Nov 7 1900 Katie M. Burke Nov 9 1840 - June 8, 1897." (circa 1952)
