Description

A group of State Normal School students are standing outside of a rooming house, or boarding house, located near the Jacksonville State Normal School. The young woman at the window was Ethel Gilchrist, married John M. Simmons in 1917. The young woman leaning against the column was Ewell Gilchrist, married Austin Kellett. Both Ethel Gilchrist and Ewell Gilchrist became teachers in one-room school houses. The original was donated by Eleanor S. Kerns, daughter of Ethel Gilchrist, and graduate of the class of 1941.
