Description
The Jacksonville Mining and Manufacturing Company constructed the Alleghany Iron Queen Hotel and 100-horse stable near the town square. The little horse named Belle was quartered behind the Iron Queen, and all of State Normal School President C.W. Daugette's children learned to ride. Shown Palmer Daugette, Kathleen Daugette, and Clarence Daugette ride Belle. (circa 1908)
