Description
An arrow points to the home in which Jacob Forney IV was born. Jacob Forney IV graduated from the State Normal School in 1886 and became president of the State Normal School in 1893 until 1899 when he left to work at The University of Alabama. Handwritten note below photo: "Our old landmark has been torn away. Joseph B. Forney's home until 186[8]. After 1868 moved to home of Eighty Oaks (Homer Weaver House). Started building this home 1864. Bought lot from Mrs. [Geo.] Whatley. Genl. Joe Wheelers headquarters 1863. Known as home of Mr. and Mrs. Pink (Miss Sue) Carpenter and Haden Carpenter, their son. Jacob Forney IV born in this home 1868." (circa 1910s)
