A committee of educators, headed by Dr. George Layton, set up nomination procedures for honoring classroom teachers. A Hall of Fame for Teachers was established by Jacksonville State University beginning in 1970. Organization committee members inside the President's office are Dr. James Reaves, W.V. Lewis, Jr., Mrs. Walter Lee, Dr. Houston Cole, Dr. Greene Taylor, and Dr. George Layton. (circa 1969)
