Description

Ossie Ann Waddell Gannaway (1907-1975) was the daughter of William Alvin Waddell and Ella Miller Waddell. A native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County, she was a graduate of Garner School of Nursing (Anniston), held a BS degree from George Peabody College (Tennessee), and an MS degree from Jacksonville State University. She did post-graduate studies at Carraway Methodist Hospital (Birmingham) and was a teacher and a nurse. She served as principal of Coldwater School, teacher and school nurse at Oxford High School, teacher at Veterans Trade School in Jacksonville, and director of nursing service at Anniston Memorial Hospital (now Regional Medical Center). She was a faculty member at JSU in 1957, as per the yearbook. She was married to James Leon Gannaway.
