The new physical education building at Jacksonville State University was named Pete Mathews Coliseum, for Pete Mathews, Clay County legislator and member of the JSU Board of Trustees. The new facility opened Fall 1974. Shown is an interior view of construction of the swimming pool during the 1973-1974 school year. (circa June 29, 1973)
