The first self-service postal service center was opened in North Alabama at Jacksonville State University in 1972. Complete mail service was available to students. Shown during the opening are from left, Dallas Sewell, Jacksonville Postmaster, Dr. Ernest Stone, University President, and Charles A. Nunnally, Manager of Anniston Sectional Center. (circa August 11, 1972)
