Description

Congressman Albert Rains, alumnus of Jacksonville State College and a former football player himself, was the guest speaker at general assembly held November 9, 1955. Faculty and students paid special honors to the football team during the assembly held in the Leone Cole Auditorium. Shown President Houston Cole speaks from the podium. Seated on stage behind him are, identified from left, Athletic Director Newbern Bush, Head football Coach Don Salls, Congressman Albert Rains, Mayor J.B. Ryan, J.A. Smoake, C.C. Dillon, Ray Wedgeworth, Tom Roberson, and Dean Theron Montgomery.
