Mrs. Betty Tyre conducted a reading workshop at Jacksonville State College (now Jacksonville State University) in June 1964. In attendance were approximately 300 in-service teachers from 11 counties and 100 college students. Shown, from left, are Dr. Greene Y. Taylor (chairman of the education division), Mrs. J.P. Watson (second grade Cleburne County teacher), Betty Tyre, and Mrs. Ross Liston Crow (director of the materials bureau which co-sponsored the event). (circa June 21, 1964)
