Gordon Simpson was a student at Jacksonville State College (now Jacksonville State University). In 1962-1963 he was Alabama State President for Phi Beta Lambda, member of National Society of Pershing Rifles, Scabbard and Blade Captain, ROTC Brigade Commander, Distinguished Military Student, Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges recipient, and member of Pi Gamma Mu. (circa 1962)
