Selected by the Jacksonville State University publicity department, Gems of the Hills were chosen for their attractiveness, poise, and charm. Judy Maxwell was chosen as a Gem of the Hills in April 1963. A junior from Gadsden she majored in Physical Education and minored in Business and English. Shown she wears her formal dress, ready for the Spring dance.
