Rudy Abbott was the Director of Athletic Publicity at Jacksonville State College (now Jacksonville State University) in the 1960s. In 1965 Rudy Abbott received the certificate shown. It reads "The Football Writers Association of America, Having studied entries from throughout the United States herewith recognizes and salutes Rudy Abbott Jacksonville State College as producer of the outstanding press football brochure in the Nation, Small college division, 1965."
