Description

Built in 1939, Abercrombie Hall, first apartment dormitory, was named for John W. Abercrombie. Abercrombie served on the state board of education for a number of years and later became president of the University of Alabama. Abercrombie Hall was the first light-housekeeping facility provided for students. The apartment dormitory had suites of two bedrooms with a kitchen between them. Shown is the front exterior view of the building. (circa 1947)
