Faculty and staff of Jacksonville State College assembled October 29, 1961 in the Leone Cole Auditorium to welcome this team of five distinguished educators who made an evaluation of the college for the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. From left are Dr. W.E. Lowry, dean Sam Houston State College, Samuel Frank Logan, dean Wofford College, Dr. Walter D. Smith, dean Wintrhop College, Dr. Rufus C. Harris (chairman) president Mercer University, and Dr. Ralph W. Steen, president Stephen F. Austin State College.
