Selected by the Jacksonville State University publicity department, Gems of the Hills were chosen for their attractiveness, poise, and charm. Pam Brunson was chosen as a Gem of the Hills in Summer 1969. A 1969-1970 cheerleader, shown in uniform she is outside on campus during a cheerleading clinic held on campus.
