These students were awarded the degree of master of science in education at Jacksonville State College (now Jacksonville State University) during ceremonies held May 27, 1962. Being greeted by an unidentified male from left are Grace Gates and Katherine Roberson. Roberson and Gates were the first to receive master's degrees with an all-A record. President Dr. Houston Cole stands with them.
