Description

Freshman class beauty Diane Culver is auctioned off by Ken Monk to William Massey, seated on the right, at Jacksonville State College November 20, 1961. Next in line to be "sold" was Alice Deakins, standing left. The auction took place in efforts to raise money for class activities by the freshman class. Females agreed to do mending, small chores, and accompany their buyers to a sock hop.
