A Town Meeting for Peace was held November 2, 1943 at the Jacksonville Recreation Center. State of Alabama Lieutenant Governor Handy Ellis was the forum speaker whose topic was, "International Government to Prevent Wars and Preserve Peace after War." Jacksonville State Teachers College President Houston Cole introduced the speaker. Shown Governor Ellis speaks from the podium.
