Representatives of the Alabama Council of Teachers of English, and Language Arts of ASGA met at Jacksonville State University in February 1970 to finalize plans for merging the two organizations. Shown seated left is Dr. Paul Sheid of Auburn University, seated right is Mrs. Barbara Boyd of Anniston County Training School, standing left is Herman L. Harris, Director of Field Services of Alabama Education Association in Montgomery, and standing right JSU Professor Mrs. Opal Lovett.
