University History

The University History Collection offers access to a variety of publications and materials that document how Jacksonville State University has grown from a small State Normal School founded in 1883, through its time as a State Teachers College, to its current status as a regional, doctoral-granting institution.

In addition to the materials in the University History Collection, thousands of images relating to JSU's history can be found in the Historical Image Collection. The Library has also digitized student news publications, such as the Chanticleer.
