Jacksonville State University dedicated its new coliseum on April 8, 1975. Named in honor of local state legislator it was named the Pete Mathews Coliseum. A portrait of Pete Mathews was unveiled during dedication services. President Ernest Stone stands with Senator and Mrs. Pete Mathews.
