Abstract
Contains primarily correspondence by JSU employees with descendants of James Gazaway Ryals, Jr., first president of the State Normal School (Jacksonville, Ala.), around the time of the University's centennial (1983). The remainder of the collection is made up of photocopies of newspaper and book sections which provide details on Ryals and his family, along with handwritten notes.The tangible materials this finding aid references are located in the Library's 10th floor Alabama Gallery Special Collections.
