Description

John Nisbet was listed as a trustee of the Jacksonville Male Academy when it was chartered by the Alabama Legislature in 1836. He was also noted as a trustee of the Jacksonville Female Academy in the October 6, 1869 Jacksonville Republican. In 1883 he became a member of the board of directors of the State Normal School where he served until his death in 1888. The original was courtesy of John B. Nisbet, Jr. (circa 1883)
