Pearl Buck, noted author and lecturer, spoke before Jacksonville State Teachers College at the Jacksonville Community Center on January 27, 1949. Her appearance was sponsored by the JSTC English Department. Shown seated on stage, left to right, are Dr. William Calvert of the English department, who introduced the speaker, Dr. Houston Cole, president of JSTC, Pearl Buck, and Col. Harry M. Ayers. Miss Buck stands speaking at the microphone on stage.
