"Town Meetings for War" were sponsored by Jacksonville State Teachers College and civic organizations of Jacksonville, Alabama. Senator Hayse Tucker, State Director of Civilian Defense, addressed the crowd October 13, 1942, as first in a series of speakers. Shown he stands at the podium. Colonel Harry Ayers is seated in a chair on stage behind him, among others.
